Troubling Tweets

I just got another call about a potentially “troubling tweet.”  A Troubling Tweet is a potentially damaging post using Twitter (www.twitter.com) that could get the person posting the “Tweet” in legal trouble. Most of the time, these things happen relative to damaging personal or business reputation, trademark issues, contract issues, and some other causes of action.

This is the second separate matter regarding Twitter Tweets that I’ve dealt with in the last two weeks and when that happens, I know it’s going to escalate.

Watch for an article on this topic coming out in the 12/19 issue of the Northern Colorado Business Report.  I’ll post the article to this site on that day as well.

When in doubt, don’t post and play nice.  🙂

The Business of Creativity

So, I’ll probably not be posting very often for a little while.  I’m committed to writing a book on the business of creativity that discusses the spiritual motivations to create, the creative process itself, the business of making a living being creative, and the legal issues that should be part of the equation in today’s society.  Spirit, Creativity, Business, Law.  I’ll be wearing all the hats I have, and hopefully writing a book that will reflect my somewhat unique set of skills and interests into a book that really helps people manifest their divinity through creative business.  My goal is to have it drafted by my 40th birthday this August.  I’d better get back to work.

Building Creative Businesses Expo

Don’t forget the 2008 Building Creative Business Expo in Denver this Saturday!

I’ll be presenting my NO LAME NAMES: Trademark Law and Branding presentation from 10:00 – 11:15.

I’ll be presenting my Copyright and the Business of Creativity presentation from 1:00-2:15.

February gone

Wow, February came and went without a blog post. Yes, it was a busy month. Several new clients started working with the firm. The first CSU “Innovation Month” set of programs were a great success and I was happy to give a couple of presentations – one on copyright and one on trademark.

We also conducted some major project including a national study of prospective law students through my higher-education marketing firm Wooden Pencil.

Moving up the mountain is proving to be a good change. I’ve got an office set up in the house and can now block some quality time to actually complete the work people are hiring me to do. Sometimes it feels like I run from meeting to meeting, so having a block of “work time” almost every day seems to be making things work more efficiently.

This week I give presentations on copyright and trademark in two venues. See the events calendar for details.

Innovation Month at CSU

CSU Ventures is putting on a series of programs in February that should be valuable for anyone interested in the start-up and tech-transfer projects happening at CSU.

The Web site for CSU Ventures has the details: http://www.csuventures.org/

I’ll be participating in two programs:

1. A discussion on Trademarks and Copyrights on February 7th.

2. A presentation on Naming issues and Trademarks on February 18th.

It should be a great program.
